About Me

Hi! I am the Superintendent/Principal at Andrew Community School District in Andrew, IA. Andrew is a K-8 district that is a 1:1 school in grades 6-8 and a "Leader In Me" school in grades K-8. Before coming to Andrew CSD, I served as the Coordinator of Digital Learning at Grant Wood Area Education Agency. While at GWAEA, I helped lead the state of Iowa in the rollout of a statewide Google Apps initiative. I also helped lead and design professional development for superintendents, principals, teachers, and paraprofessionals.

I'm married to my wonderful wife, Julie, and we have a beautiful baby boy, Caden. My wife Julie is also an educator as she teachers middle school science at Andrew. Julie was honored as a Google Certified Teacher in Seattle in the summer of 2011.

I have received a few honors during my time as an educator. In 2007, I was honored by Apple, Inc. as an Apple Distinguished Educator. In 2009, I became a Google Certified Teacher after participating in the Google Teacher Academy in Boulder, CO. In 2010, I was honored as an "ISTE Emerging Leader" and also named a "Top 100 in Educational Technology" by Tech & Learning Magazine. I have been very lucky to receive these honors and definitely couldn't have achieved them without having great students and staff to work with everyday!
